You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers
Below are some web design questions that we are frequently asked. If you do not see your answer below, contact us here »
Do you guys create websites?
Really? Was that a serious question? Who let this guy in here? In case you missed our entire website here, yes we create award-winning websites because we’re awesome. Next question.
Okay, do you guys create custom websites or do you use templates?
Honestly, this guy might get smacked. Every website is fully tailored and customized for each client. No design template of any kind is used. If one of our designers even heard the word “template” they might keel over and die from embarrassment. Do you want that on your conscience? I didn’t think so.
What if I want to make edits to my website? Do I have to call you guys every time I have a minor change and then get billed for it?
Absolutely not. We can build an easy-to-use content management system into your website that will allow you to make edits to the words/content and any pictures on your site. But don’t worry about accidentally ruining your entire site design – we give you just enough rope not to hang yourself.
Do you guys do more than just websites?
Oh my goodness, just when he had me fooled there with a good question he comes back with this. Yes, we do more than websites. We are a full service marketing company. We handle social media, Email marketing, print design, brand identity and so much more.
I heard something about advertising on Google. What is that all about?
Okay, there you go, a great question. Google and other search engines have something called Pay-Per-Click advertising (PPC). What it does is allow you to basically pay to get your site to the first page of Google. If you search for something, you’ll notice a few sites listed in a yellow box on top or on the right hand side of the page. Those are the PPC ads. Each time someone clicks on your ad, you are charged an amount. You can set a budget and the proper keywords that your ad will appear on. It’s a great way to get traffic, especially for new websites. We can help you get those up and rockin’ in no time!
What is the typical cost involved in a website?
And there’s that loaded question everyone wants to know! Surprised it took this long, buddy. I don’t want to beat around the bush, so the disappointing answer is “it depends.” It’s kind of like asking “how much does a car cost?” Well, do you want a 1993 Camry or a brand new Ferrari? It really all depends on the bells and whistles of your website, the functions it needs to perform, and the size of your site. Since I know that answer left you completely unsatisfied, I’ll just say that typically you’re looking at a few thousand dollars for a website.
“If you think good design is expensive, you should look at the cost of bad design.” — Dr. Ralf Speth, Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Land Rover
Well how long does it take to build a website?
Well, again that depends on how complex it is, but typically you are looking at between 6 – 12 weeks. We find that you sitting down and speaking directly to our designers cuts down a lot of the time involved, because they get it right the first time. But really, the honest answer is it depends on you the client. If you get us the information we need and the feedback we need, we work rather quickly. Think of us like mechanics. We’ve got a few cars we’re always working on, but it’s better to work on the ones we have the parts for.
What is the typical process of getting a website built?
Step 1 is coming in for a discovery meeting. You’ll meet with our team and a designer, so that we can fully understand what you are looking for and we can ask the right questions and give you the answers and advice you’re looking for.
Step 2 is our research and proposal phase. We spend 4-8 hours researching your industry, your competitors, your target audience and anything else we can so that we can put ourselves in your shoes and deliver to you the optimal website for your business. Once our research is complete, you will receive our proposal and you will jump for joy because you’re sooo excited to work with us!
Step 3 is the design process, which you are involved in. Here is where time is saved because the designer already knows what you’re looking for and knocks it out of the park early! We never move forward from here until you love what we’ve designed for you.
Step 4 is all downhill from the design approval. We will finish the build-out, plug in the content and pictures, SEO the site and push it live!
I saw something in there about content. Do I have to write all that stuff?
I knew you were going to whine about that. I just knew it. To answer your question, it’s up to you. Typically it’s best for the client to write his or her own content. You hopefully know your business better than we do (if not, you might be in the wrong business). We will then go through the content you provide and optimize it for SEO purposes and format it for the site. Or if you don’t have the time or just don’t want to write all that content we will be more than happy to research and write it for you (in exchange for that green stuff in your wallet).
You guys are the best! How do I shower you with love and affection?
Oh my, you’re going to make me blush. But way to finish strong on your line of questioning. We’d love for you to leave us a review on Google, that helps! Or bourbon. Bourbon is always nice!
